Does the SHA still intend to
implement a water fluoridation scheme before it is abolished on 31st March
2013?
The Strategic Health Authority (SHA) is in discussions with Southern Water regarding the implementation of a water fluoridation scheme for Southampton and parts of Southwest Hampshire. The process is on-going and will be taken over by Public Health England from 1 April 2013.

If so
will a scheme be operational before 31st march 2013?It is anticipated that the water in
Southampton and parts of south west Hampshire will be fluoridated in
2014.
b.
If not
operational by 31st March 2013, what stage does the SHA believe it will have
reached by 31st March 2013?The SHA is currently in discussions
with Southern Water regarding the implementation process and is working towards
implementation of the scheme in 2014.

I spoke with southern water recently and asked them whether they still intended to fluoridate the water supply despite opposition from the public, city & county councils and they said that were realising that it was unpopular with the public, and so they were not going ahead. Perhaps just PR, but good to hear. Maybe if more people rang up southern water and asked these kinds of questions, the message will soon be received by their shareholders, who will fear their investments? Their number is 0333 200 3012.
