Harvard study does not provide evidence of any effect on children’s IQ, says Alex White, Minister of State at Department of HealthA report in the Lancet that found fluoride is a neurotoxin contains no new data and is of no relevance to Ireland, the Dáil has been told.Independent TD Clare Daly asked Minister of State at the Department of Health Alex White for his view of the report, which was published in March, and whether he would move to cease adding fluoride to our water. Mr White said the Irish Expert Body on Fluorides and Health assessed the study by scientists from the Harvard Medical School cited in the Lancet report, which claimed an effect on children’s IQ at very high levels of naturally occurring fluoride.
“They were found to be of no relevance to Ireland, given our regulated fluoridation levels. The view of the expert body is that the overall design of the studies is poor and they do not provide evidence of any effect on children’s IQ from either high or low fluoride levels.”
He said the Harvard study contained no new data, and that “Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine continue to support water fluoridation as a safe public health measure.”
Mr White said his department keeps the policy of water fluoridation under review.

This is becoming quite tedious, what's it going to take to get these (people who know best)looking at the science in stead of looking the other way...Quote: "the Lancet that found fluoride is a neurotoxin contains no new data", nothing more was said about being a neurotoxin or is that nothing to worrie about?...Quote: " The view of the expert body is that the overall design of the studies is poor", id like to meet this expert body,they must be knowledgeable to undermine a Harvard study by basically saying it's junk...
One problem with fluoridation is there is no way to control the dose people take. Some drink many glasses of water and receive a very large dose of fluoride. this of course leads to dangerous health conditions.
And it's not just the water that contains fluoride so controlling the dose i would say is an impossibility...What doctor would prescribe a medication with an unlimited dose, it's not rocket science even a delinquent such as myself can see that the majority who live in a fluoridated area will be receiving way to much fluoride...So why cant a professional health authority see it to, instead of regurgitating the usual BS mantra of "safe and effective"...I'll take charge of my own health thank you very much...
