FLUORIDE TO AGAIN BE ADDED TO
WEST CUMBRIA'S WATER SUPPLY

Fluoride will once again be added to a west Cumbrian water supply.
The chemical has been added to the water supplied to Cornhow and Ennerdale water treatment works since the late 1960s.
However, the process was halted in April 2006 in Cornhow and in November 2011 in Ennerdale, to allow the treatment equipment to be upgraded.
Public Health England – which took over from the abolished North West Strategic Health Authority on April 1 – has announced that the service is expected to resume in the coming weeks.

Seven years is a long time to take for the fluoridation 'equipment' to be updated, so surely the scheme is now terminated and not merely suspended after all that time, and PHE has no authority to restart it. In that case, the people should be consulted.
Perhaps the real motive here is to use Cornhow as an example of shocking dental decay in the absence of fluoridation, and then to claim a miraculous improvement after the scheme is reintroduced, thus 'proving' that fluoridation works.
