The causes of osteosarcoma are not known. Questions remain about whether radium, or fluoride, in drinking water can act as "environmental triggers" for increasing the incidence of the disease

This last part of this letter absolutely hits the nail on the head! As things stand there is more of a consequence for the SHA Board members in not going along with approving the scheme than there is in acting to stop it. They risk being side-lined in their careers for being the whistle-blower, but by toeing the line they get career advancement risk-free as there’s no possibility (or so they believe) of being held responsible for the damage that their professional negligence will create.
And let’s be clear, they are negligent. They were provided with clear information, which at least one of them (“is fluorosis permanent?” – ye gods!) couldn’t be bothered to read, investigate and understand. This is an appalling state of affairs. And it doesn’t seem to occur to any of them that they have absolutely no business taking decisions that violate individuals’ right to refuse medication. They’ve been told to do it and they haven’t the backbone to stand up against it. Remind anyone of anything?
The 41 professional & ‘health’ organisations (Guy Harkin’s letter) that endorse each other’s positions on fluoridation also can’t be trusted to do anything other than stick together. Let’s not pretend that they all thoroughly investigate what the other “well-respected” bodies have already given their name to ….. it’s like the Emperor’s new clothes! And Mike Lennon (Echo 7 April) says we should all bow down to the superior knowledge of Dr Steve George because he’s considered to be ‘eminent’. Oh, well that’s all right then. Heaven forbid that we should exercise our rights to refuse medication in opposition to eminence!!
If you would like to subscribe just e-mail nofluoride@googlemail for latest information on how to stop this undemocratic decision to fluoridate Southampton against the will of the people by 12 unelected members of the Strategic Health Authority who do not even live here. The Board Dr Geoffrey Harris - Chairman Jim Easton - Chief Executive Chris Evennett – Director of Strategy and Reform Katherine Fenton - Director of Clinical Standards Olga Senior - Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs Ben Lloyd - Director of Finance and Investment Prof. John Newton Regional Director of Public Health Terry Butler CBE Alyson Coates . It’s an elaborate game. Don’t play along with it.
