Dates of the proposed "question time" events

You will be aware that South Central Strategic Health Authority is due to begin a public consultation regarding a proposal to add fluoride to the water supply in Southampton and south west Hampshire. The consultation will run from 8 September – 19 December 2008.

As part of the consultation a series of three “question time” style events are being planned. The aim of these events is to provide a forum where local people can ask questions of clinical experts and others on both sides of this important issue.

To ensure there is enough space for people wishing to attend local people will need to apply for a ticket when the consultation begins.

The events are planned for the following dates and locations:
20 October 2008: St Mary’s Stadium (7.30pm – 9.30pm)
18 November 2008: Southampton University (7.30pm – 9.30pm)
3 December 2008: Rose Bowl, Hampshire County Cricket Ground (7.30pm – 9.30pm).

The panels will consist of four individuals, two considered pro-fluoride and two considered anti-fluoride, and will be chaired independently. We hope that the following will be panel members:
Elizabeth McDonagh – Chair, National Pure Water Association
John Spottiswoode – Hampshire Against Fluoridation
Barry Cockcroft – Chief Dental Officer for England,,Department of Health
Dr Jeyanthi John – Consultant in Dental Public Health Southampton City PCT
