The chairman Jonathan Montgomery was under the impression we had wasted our time as fluoridation although on the agenda it was not up for debate. He said the public meeting is in October when they discuss it and give their verdict. It wasn't a waste of time as it drove home that many people are opposed to fluoridation. Some people were told at the door and turned away which Jonathan apologised for. Realizing the numbers of people who arrived for the fluoridation the chairman then arranged a separate meeting in an adjoining room. We now know that in October they will give their verdict based on strength of feeling and the safety not the effectiveness of fluoridation. They will then give this verdict to the Southern Central Strategic Health Authority. The SCSHA will also receive the opinion from the County, District and Town councillors who are most likely to be against. Later the Echo reporter came
in and as even more people had tried to get in another meeting was held to go over the same points made earlier. So we have to persuade the Hampshire Primary Care Trust and the Southern Central Strategic Health Authority in the coming months. The various meetings called by the SCSHA during the consultation process will be
published in the Echo and other papers. I met the County Councillor Anna McNair Scott who is looking into this for the CC and this gives us an opportunity to supply them with information that they certainly won't get from the "official sources"

The very same thing happened up here in East Lancashire. The informed the press that there would be a PCT meeting and that fluoride was on the agenda. The press actualy let us know and still have their eyes peeled for the next development. When we phoned to get details of the meeting, several callers were give different versions, ie. no there is not a meeting, and yes there is a meeting but fluoride is not on the agenda and even, yes there is a meeting but its only to inform the committee that they would soon be discussing fluoridation but didnt have a date. Undaunted, we turned up at the meeting and let them know we were not impressed, and handed them a long list of questions about fluoride and a complaint that we were far from impressed by the way things were being handled. My advice is, turn up to all their meetings and in as much force as possible, it helps them focus their attention on the facts and on democrasy, both of which are being endangered by this iniquitious legislation and procedure.
Sadly, there appears to be an attitude of "divide and conquer" within the PCT.
I have contacted them a number of times with questions and have either received no answer or received conflicting information.
