Not one for gossip but....Professor John Newton Regional Director of Public Health, South Central SHA,and now working for the new organization Public Health England (PHE). The other main proponent was Sandra White She is now working as a consultant for the PHE.

It isn't gossip both are working for the PHE. I've written to the Echo but they haven't published it.
You can Google both names and find out their new jobs and Newton's job description is a laugh.

#8.2 The Department has made the following changes in response to comments received on the consultation document:
there should be a minimum interval of twenty years between consultations on proposals to terminate fluoridation schemes.
